Our regular reader would know that back in June this year 3 on The Tree made a list of cars that we would love to review the Hyundai i40 was on that list.

Now with Hyundai starting to gain alot popularity in Australia with their great range of vehicles, Hyundai are making things even more tempting for people interested in the i40 Sedan and i40 Tourer specially us here at 3 on The Tree.

Hyundai have announced the following model upgrades to their popular premium i40 sedan and Tourer models.

Designed and engineered at the company’s European research and development centre in Russelsheim, Germany, the i40 represents Hyundai’s commitment to delivering cars which combine sleek Euro styling with efficiency and affordability.

The i40 sedan and i40 Tourer are available in three trim levels, Active, Elite and Premium with each variant benefiting from additional features in the model upgrade package to further increase levels of comfort and convenience.

All models are now standard with an eight-sensor front and rear parking system to increase safety and ease of parking; in addition all i40 Tourer models now offer additional piece-of-mind with an easy-to-use rear cargo blind and safety net.

For the ultimate in convenience, the i40 Tourer Premium now also comes standard with a power tailgate feature allowing the operator to open/close the tailgate with the push of a button.

As with all Hyundai vehicles safety technology is paramount. The i40 range achieves a 5-star ANCAP rating with standard features including; nine airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) incorporating EBD and BAS, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Emergency Stop System (ESS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), steering wheel mounted speed limiter, Electric Park Brake (EPB), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).

The new satellite navigation system on Elite & Premium variants is delivered with a fully integrated rear view camera display, operated via the 7” centre fascia mounted full-colour touch screen. The navigation system incorporates NAVTEQ™ maps, SUNA live traffic updates, and a comprehensive Point of Interest (POI) database. Also included is NAVTEQ™ MapCare™ offering up to three years of free mapping updates^. The system also manages the audio package which includes 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, woofer, external amplifier, and Bluetooth® / digital iPod connectivity.

Across the i40 range there are two engine options. Demonstrating Hyundai’s expertise in diesel engine technology design is the UII 1.7-litre CRDi engine, which is complimented by a 2.0-litre GDi petrol engine. Both engines are married to either a six-speed automatic transmission with electronic sequential manual mode featuring steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, or a six-speed manual transmission for all-round driving engagement.

Comfort levels in the Elite & Premium trim variants is enhanced by the use of leather/leatherette# combination seats adding a subtle touch of luxury, and is balanced by a premium door centre trim. Designed to shield passengers from prying eyes, and to reduce cabin temperatures during summer months, front windows feature solar glass while a privacy tint has been applied from the B-pillar backwards.

Eight contemporary exterior colours are offered across the i40 range, including newly introduced Phantom Black, all matched to an all-black interior. Of course, all i40 sedan and i40 Tourer variants offer a suite of comfort and convenience features.

  1. Australia always removed some of the features and sell at the top price, its too late for the market .
    Hyundai had a early start but lead the way. Let compare to MAZDA 6 2013 wagon.
    The upgrade was not an option when I bought my I40….. ?????? kind of regret.
