It’s been a while so I thought I would add an update to Project Pimp My Astra, since my last update Gordy has had a lot of work done although the job is still no where near finished but unfortunately things will have to slow down now as my budget is now exhausted sad that things will have to be put on hold to get finished but also happy that a lot of things most of it stuff that really needed to be done has been done.
First thing of the bat was getting the timing belt and water pump which was done at the end of January, unfortunately during that time it was time to get Gordy ready for rego for another year and the top mounts on the shock towers needed to be replaced something I didn’t know about nor did I budget for.
Shortly after getting Gordy back the battery decided to die so I had to get a new one, so that meant the money spent getting the top mounts fixed and the new battery actually killed my budget for a alot of the interior work I wanted to do, plus part of the body work on the outside.
I started 4 weeks of long service leave January 31st which was the first anniversary of Dad’s passing which made me sad as a lot of things I wanted to have done by then were not done and wasn’t going to get done.
2 weeks ago with no budget I got into the things that I had already bought and pulled off the front bar and removed the headlights and installed Gordy’s new eye’s to say I damn happy with the replacement headlights is an under statement I think they look absolutely awesome.
While I had front bar off I decided to black out part of it with Plastidip and I think it turned out alright, one day I will redo it but at the moment it looks ok and I’m happy with it.
Last weekend I taped up the bonnet and Plastidipped that as well adding a wide stripe to it, again not a perfect job but it looks ok I actually ran out of dip and would have actually loved to get an extra 2 coats of it on another job to be done at a later time now my budget is gone.
What I did manage to do was Plastidip the door pillar black but because I ran out of dip I only got the driver’s side done.
While not everything is done things have started although this going to be a longer road to getting Gordy finished then I had planned, but what can I do without a budget, extra things that needed to be done killed what budget I did have. Now at the moment my family is in the process of trying to find a new place to live since Dad’s passing we decided mum should move in with us which means we have to find a bigger place. Add to that this month seems to be the time for all our bills to arrive all at once. Now while getting Gordy fixed up in memory of Dad is damn important to me  the fact that unless I win lotto or I get some donations my family comes first and at the moment anything else needing to be done to Gordy is going to have to wait.
Life goes on and I know one way or the other Gordy will be finished one day, my online shop has just been made over and I have a full range of Project Pimp My Astra and 3 on The Tree shirts available in our online shop http://www.cafepress.com.au/3onTheTree1 with all the profits going straight back into the project, you can also make a donation to Project Pimp My Astra via the paypal button below I really want to make the Astra something my Dad would of been proud of.
